Remember- someday this could be you!
I am a 44 year old father of 2 daughters (ages 15 and 7). While I am am married, I can't help but honestly say that that our fininancial situation has caused stress on our marriage. Five years ago I experienced a fall that broke two vertebrae in my back, resulting in a loss of work. Because I had changed jobs just 8 months earlier, I did not qualify for work related disability or workers compensation. At the time my wife was a stay at home mom, taking care of our two year old.
All that has changed now. I am the stay at home dad. My wife works, but her job provides little more than health insurance. I do draw social security, but as you are aware, that's not much. As a result of the accident, we were forced to file a bankruptcy, which will be paid off in 22 months. So far, we have been able to "survive", but it's been a monthly struggle.
Recently, my wife's company changed owners. Now, instead of a paycheck every week, she gets paid once a month (the same week I get my social security). We are falling behind on everything, because we had bills set up throughout the month. Now, we must decide if we pay a bill, or buy groceries. I wont even go into the bills associated with raising children. My wife also found out this week that she will have to begin paying for health insurance (which was a company benefit until now). Bottom line: It hurts to say it, but WE NEED HELP!
The average American is just 3 paychecks away from being placed in a situation that could lead to ours. I am not accustomed to asking for help, but I firmly believe God led me to this website. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful prayers and cnsideration. May God lead you to share as he has so blessed you.
Thank you!
